Privacy Policy
- We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or profiling.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
- Questions or requests: privacy@dailysuargam.com
Suargam (“Suargam,” “we,” “us”) is a sole proprietorship operating the news website dailysuargam.com, based in Jammu & Kashmir, India. This policy explains what personal data we collect from readers, why, and what rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
1. What we collect
You can read every article on Suargam without an account. If you create one, or use other features, we collect:
- Account details: your email address and password (creating an account with email/password), or your name, email address, and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Passwords are never stored by us in readable form — they are handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Saved articles: if you bookmark an article, we store a link between your account and that article so you can find it again under “Saved.”
- Comments: the name and comment text you submit. Comments are public once approved by our moderators and are not tied to an account — you can comment without signing in.
- Contact form submissions: your name, email address, the subject you select, and your message, when you write to us via the Contact page.
- Clap counts: when you tap the clap button on an article, the count is stored in your browser only (not tied to your identity), and an anonymous total is added to that article's public count.
- Cookies & local storage: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and your light/dark theme preference, stored locally in your browser. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies or trackers of any kind.
2. Why we collect it
- To create and secure your reader account, and let you sign in.
- To let you save and revisit articles.
- To publish and moderate reader comments.
- To respond to messages sent through the Contact page.
- To keep the site secure and functioning correctly.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Comments and contact messages are kept as part of our moderation and correspondence records. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Security
We rely on our providers' industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls that restrict who can see your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
6. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Ask us to erase your data or delete your account.
- Withdraw consent for any processing that relies on it.
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Register a complaint with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@dailysuargam.com.
7. Children
Suargam is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and post significant changes on this page.
9. Contact & grievance redressal
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, write to privacy@dailysuargam.com. We aim to acknowledge every request within a reasonable time.
